Where Electronica and Anima Meet

“Altered Fest” is on the nexus of electronic music and animation. There is a synergy between the bleep-bloops of digital music and the tweening and morphing of computer animatronics. “Altered Fest” looks to explore it. This Fort Lauderdale Electronic Music and Animation Festival presents a day full of electronica, electro dream pop, hip-hop, drum ’n’ bass, dubstep, house, and trance combined with a presentation of original art, animation, and short films from South Florida filmmakers. Some of the musical talents slated to perform are the fashion-forward synth-pop sounds of WeHo, the tongue-in-cheek electro pop (think LMFAO) of upstate New York’s Kill This City, and the digital pop of My Electric Heart. Artwork from Emefay and Jah Rukus will be on display, while films by Johanna Martinez and Ishaemedia will be screening. “Altered Fest” occurs Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. at Da Big Kahuna in Fort Lauderdale, located at 17 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Ste. 308, in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost only $3. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. Visit sonicphantasm.com, or call 954-793-2205.
