What does the name Whoopi Goldberg mean to you? Does it might remind you of The View and involve horrible flashbacks of sitting with Grandma and listening to five women bitch about menopause? Not completely, right? Because Whoopi, our dear Whoopi, she's so much more than that. She's our favorite dreadlocked actress. She has won two Golden Globes, two Emmys, a Grammy, and a Tony Award for works like The Color Purple and Ghost, in which she played a psychic alongside the late Patrick Swayze.

Here, she's most famous for her crass humor, illustrated best by an incident at a John Kerry fundraiser in 2004 involving a bottle of wine, her pubic region, and George W. Bush's name. The lovely legend is bringing that wonderfully intelligent and foul humor Friday to Hard Rock Live (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood). You'll be remiss to be absent from this show. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8, and tickets start at $49. Buy 'em at hardrocklivehollywoodfl.com, or call the box office at 954-797-5531.
Fri., Jan. 13, 8 p.m., 2012
