Word Up

All those hours of killing time at work while playing "Words With Friends" have taught you how to wrench max points out of a four-letter word. Put those skills to use in the analog world with an old-school Scrabble Challenge featuring in-the-flesh opponents. Mr. Brown, a former Scrabble competitor, offers tricks, quizzes, and strategies to help wordsmiths of all levels hone their game. The Scrabble Challenge is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (the event repeats on every third Tuesday of the month). Games are held indoors at Franklin Park, located at 2501 Franklin Drive in Fort Lauderdale. There is no cost to attend and boards are provided for play. Preregistration suggested. Call 954-791-1037, or visit broward.org/parks/franklinpark.
Third Tuesday of every month, 6-8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 18. Continues through Dec. 17, 2012
KEEP NEW TIMES BROWARD-PALM BEACH FREE... Since we started New Times Broward-Palm Beach, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of South Florida, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
