You’re a Mean One, Mr. Black

If Hollywood ever chose to reboot Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas yet again, the part of the titular green meany would have to go to comedian Lewis Black. Think about it: The curmudgeonly Daily Show veteran is known for his malcontent disposition and vein-popping canter, but inside, he’s got a heart of gold. His new book, I’m Dreaming of a Black Christmas, focuses his rampant discontent on the greatest of American holidays. “Every person I know at some point during the Christmas season asks, ‘How’s your Christmas going?’ ” says Black with his trademark vitriol. “And the reason they ask this is because (a) they want it to end, and (b) if it doesn’t, they fear they may kill their family.”

Rather than resorting to violence, let Black himself dismantle your Christmas as he performs Friday through Sunday at the Palm Beach Improv (550 S. Rosemary Ave., Ste. 350, West Palm Beach). Tickets for those shows start at $40. Visit improv.com.
