Things happen pretty fast on the streets of the Dirty South. Whereas crunk ruled the block last year, by the end of 2005, it had been boiled down to an even more minimalist, bootycentric, low-end theory called snap music. At the center of crunk's rapid-fire evolution, Atlanta has spewed out snap's greatest perpetrators: D4L, Typhoid Marys of the musical virus known as "Laffy Taffy," and the equally infectious Dem Franchize Boyz. The four Boyz — Jizzal Man, Parlae, Pimpin, and Buddie — were weaned on hip-hop in the ATL's Westside, but you can't really call them MCs. Their style is all about unleashing the most easily chanted, insanely repeatable choruses mankind has ever known. So we get Hummer-bumping, club-thumping mantras like "I Think They Like Me" and "White Tee" — so perfectly forgettable that they're intolerably memorable. It's hard to imagine a live show with these guys going beyond a few goofy lines repeated for an hour, but you better believe that's gonna be the most ass-smackin', Patron-swilling, lean-backin' hour of your life.
