For the most part, dance music seldom holds its own outside the club, but there are exceptions. Recent danceable rockers like the darling Franz Ferdinand and future popsters the Epoxies have put out solid albums completely listenable without chemical or liquid aid. Add now to that playlist the Shiny Toy Guns. Snaky synths, ass-shaking drumbeats, thick bass, and the one-two punch of singers Carah Faye and Gregori Chad compliment one another so well that you'll be humming along to dance-floor fodder like "Le Disko" and "You Are the One." Joining them on stage will be Miami's Nothing Rhymes with Orange -- who all the girls agree are a bunch of good-looking motherfuckers who can actually play. Their gruff, rock 'n' roll racket will be a nice juxtaposition to STG's artsy, choreographed, ambience-inducing performance, fresh off a CMJ showcase.

Shiny Toy Guns and Nothing Rhymes with Orange play at 9 p.m. Thursday, September 22, at the Culture Room, 3045 N. Federal Hwy. Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cast $5, and the show is all-ages. Call 954-564-1074.
