Yes, it's the end of March and the Winter Music Conference is set to monopolize South Beach again with nonstop beats broadcast through the streets. But in recent years, many scenesters have tired of the ultraglossy beachside atmosphere. So they have set out for the other side of the bridge. Revolver's Winter Music Conference Party has become the alternative WMC event for indie kids, hipsters, and tastemakers alike.

Past performers have included NYC staples Fischerspooner and the Rapture, as well as electro punkers Adult. With Pawn Shop as its new venue and sponsors Tribeca Grand and Adidas again on board, event producers promise 2005 will exceed past glories. This year's lineup includes DJs Tiga and the ubiquitous James Murphy (DFA), German artist Ellen Allien, New York dance-rockers Radio 4, and the brilliantly eclectic/electric Cut Copy. "It's the most exciting event of WMC 2005," according to event co-promoter Tommy Saleh. "It has all the right components within a boutique configuration, together with a cutting-edge lineup that truly represents the best of today's modern music." Enough talk already; let's boogie.
