Back then, they were strictly a Grateful Dead cover band, playing dead-on (pun intended) versions from every era of the group's protracted legacy. A micro-Shakedown Street mushroomed up (pun intended) in every venue parking lot; pipes, tie-dyes, and other hippiephernelia were in easy supply. These days, the band plays as many originals as covers, its limber grooves stretching an improvisational sheen over blues, rock, reggae, and jazz. Check them out, and expect some epic flashbacks.
Crazy Fingers plays at 9 p.m. Friday, January 7, at Alligator Alley, 1321 E. Commercial Blvd., Oakland Park. Tickets cost $5. Call 954-771-2220.
