Kiss
During the age of the live album (Cheap Trick's At Budokan; Frampton Comes Alive, Ted Nugent's Double Live Gonzo!, AC/DC's If You Want Blood You've Got It, etc.), Kiss rocked out with Alive! in a way that even the band's heaviest contemporaries couldn't match. Of course, much of what set it apart from the pack was the band's theatrics. But there's no denying that Kiss also unleashed some of the most ferocious tracks ever to blast through a stack of Marshall amplifiers.Even if you weren't around during their heyday, one quick listen to songs such as "Strutter," "Hotter Than Hell," and "Black Diamond" will show that the band still kicks the proverbial ass of any competition from any era. Add the party anthem "Rock and Roll All Nite" and you've got a set list tailor-made for the arena. Since post-Alive! mainstays like "Shout It Out Loud," "Love Gun," and "Detroit Rock City" have all taken their rightful place as encores, the Alive 35 Tour promises to be all that you paid for—and then some.
"Then some" referring, of course, to Kiss themselves, in all their super rock-hero glory. No one band has ever put as much energy and invention into its stage shows. And it's unlikely anyone else would attempt to. If you're into watching a bunch of twee lads earnestly diddling their instruments, this show is decidedly not for you. But if you believe that rock should come from a hard place and that it must entertain you to no end, then this is a night not to be missed.
