This four-table restaurant in a rundown strip mall in Coral Springs is unassuming, but the authentic fare tastes like it comes straight from a kitchen in Mexico. The menu features the standard taco/burrito/quesadilla boilerplate, so order from the board of specials by the register. Everything is handmade daily, like the pliant corn tortillas doubled up as tacos and filled with made-to-order fish, pork loin, chicken, or steak. The same tortillas are cut into wedges and fried up as thick chips, perfect for dunking in the robust red and green salsas. Moist tamales are filled with spinach or fresh queso and rajas, sautéed jalapeños with a spicy bite. Likewise, flaky empanadas and bunuelos (sweet, cinnamon-studded doughnut holes) are amazing. Because everything is cheap, fast, and tasty, Chini's could easily become your go-to taco joint, even if it is way out west.
