A bagel is a bagel is a bagel -- if you live in New York, that is. Down here we have a more difficult time locating the archetypal bagel: chewy crust, resilient crumb. In other words not a doughy roll. Enter Rodeo Bagel (10281 W. Sample Rd., Coral Springs, 954-344-6290), a shop that rounds up the usual sesame, poppy seed, and onion suspects and takes them to higher ground. If you frequent the place in the morning, you can get hot, just-out-of-oven specimens. Of course you can visit in the afternoons as well for a quick lunch, as the shop makes stellar whitefish-salad sandwiches. But don't dally -- Rodeo Bagels closes at 3 p.m. on weekdays, 2 p.m. on weekends.
