For those inclined to think a certain way, The Bakehouse (834 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd., Hallandale, 954-458-1600) might sound like a good place to get high. And they wouldn't be too far off; the bakery-cafe is an excellent source for munchies. Not only do the Old World, European-style breads (read: crusty), such as chocolate-cherry and kalamata olive, stay the appetite, but so do the homemade granola, Waldorf chicken salad (with apples and raisins), and "signature strata," a quichelike delicacy comprising bread, eggs, milk, cheese, and other ingredients. And if the chocolate-cherry loaf doesn't prove sweet enough, there are always the oversize muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, and tarts that help The Bakehouse live up to its suggestive name.
