For Once, It Does Not Taste Like Chicken

The Japanese come from a tiny island filled to the brim with immense culture, rich history, and cutting-edge technology. Despite having such an advanced society, their food is flat-out foreign to most Americans. Chances are you won’t be seeing McSushi at the drive-through anytime soon (thank God). Rest easy, because there are still plenty of junk foods to enjoy in most Asian markets. But with ambiguous product names like Pocky and Walky Walky, how can you possibly decide what to pick?

Tate’s Comics comes to the rescue with its semi-annual Free Japanese Snack Tasting Event. For two hours, you’ll be able to challenge your edible insecurities while you sample their variety of Rising Sun goodies. Fair warning: Seaweed (Nori) candy may become your new crack.

The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Tate’s Comics (4566 N. University Drive, Lauderhill). Call 954-748-0181, or visit
