No better time to teach boy and girls 5 to 18 years old commitment, sportsmanship, and leadership than during the holiday season. Sure, you’re planning to drill terms like hard work and dedication into the kids' minds while the family holiday shops and decorates the Christmas tree, but nothing's going to school them quite like a game of football where you get to play, too. This Saturday, South Florida 7 on 7 Youth Football will team up with South Florida Sports for Kids to host its 1st Annual Family Holiday Bowl at Bamford Sports Complex (3801 South Pine Island Rd., Davie). The whole family’s invited to play, but each team will be organized according to skill levels. Finally, sibling rivalry will have a place to work itself out besides apology time at the kitchen table. So bring a donation of 15 bucks per person with an unwrapped toy, or if you wish to forgo bringing a gift, the entry fee is $20. To boot, former NFL players Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain, among other college players, will be there to take pictures and hang out, and South Florida 7 on 7 Youth Football will giveaway five spots to their future skill camps. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the game starts at 9 a.m. Visit southflorida7on7.com.
