From Stand-up to Hip-Hop

Conundrum Stages, a community theater in Oakland Park, is putting on a jamboree of performances in different mediums today, ranging from stand-up comedy to violin solos. And all the participants are local artists. Artist Afua Hall will dance solo and then the stage will be taken over by hip-hop crew No Turning Back. There will be three spoken word artists and then three singers accompanied by violinist Eric David. Daleena Segui, a comedian from the area, will give us stand-up. There will be monologues and scenes by three actors. The best part might be the cast of FIU’s Reefer Madness singing musical selections from that production. As researchers and pulp directors demonstrated in the 1930s, marijuana nurtures Satanism and murderous instincts, so FIU’s selections should be informative as well as entertaining – especially if you come high.

The Wonderful World of Conundrum Stages, Vol. 1: Lights Out! will take place at the Collins Community Center (3900 NE 3 Avenue, Oakland Park) beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free. Call 954-630-4500 or e-mail [email protected]
