Road Rules Can Be Funny?

Theo Von got his start on MTV’s Road Rules in 1994. His subsequent appearances on the Real World/Road Rules specials kept him in the semi-warm glow of the reality television limelight just long enough to start working on a stand up act. This all seems like it would spell disaster for Von's professional life, as well as embarrassment for the stand-up comedy profession as a whole, but Theo actually has genuine comedic talent. He appeared on Last Comic Standing, Live at Gotham, and Reality Bites Back, all the while gaining momentum and notoriety in the comedy world. His self-defacing/observational style certainly has been done before, but Von is able to make it seem fresh thanks to his timing and delivery.

Theo Von will be keeping it real Friday through Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts (2855 Coral Springs Dr.). Tickets cost $23.32, and there is a two-drink minimum per person.
Fri., March 13, 8 p.m.; Sat., March 14, 8 p.m.; Sun., March 15, 8 p.m., 2009
