The Association of Performing Arts of India is throwing down with a classical music concert today at the Broward County Library celebrating the life of Ustad Bismillah Khan, the shehnai maestro who, in 2001, was awarded the highest honor in Indian culture. Seasoned musicians Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain Khan, Janab Hassan and his sons Haider & Janab Ahmed Abbas Khan, and Pandit Subhen Chetterjee will perform a set of classical folk music that conjures the far east and pays fitting tribute to the legendary musician.
