There’s a part of you, and not a small part, that demands you lay provocatively across the hood of a ’57 Chevy. It’s the same inner pinup girl whose puckered lips whisper “no, no — get the cherry red” whenever you peruse the lipstick isle; she was also your primary counsel on every favorite impulse buy to date: gold lame swimsuits, breast enhancing swing dresses adorned with anchors, and those bitchin’ Mary Tyler Moore-esque hot pants. You can’t keep an inner vixen like her on the inside; the world needs her.

Go-go Amy agrees. A troubadourian glamour puss by trade (she rolls international as a burlesque performer with the Brothers Grim Sideshow), Amy is taking today to tutor would-be sex kittens in the art of pinup. Her workshop: Be a Pinup Girl (or just look like one), covers everything from how to roll your mane up into a retro ’do, to vintage-style make up application and posing. All participants will then have their hair and make-up professionally set and get to choose from three different photo sets: Hawaiian tiki jungle princess, silver screen glamour queen, or burlesque beauty babe. Famed photographer to the (rock) stars Janette Valentine will be snapping the sexy shots, then retouching them so that you look picture perfect — just as a proper pinup should. Bring your own favorite retro frocks or use some of the ones provided; it’s up to you (and your inner diva). You’ll leave with tons of goodies, instructional how-tos, and a disc of your shoot so that someday, when your boobs are on the floorboard, you’ll remember how they once stopped traffic. The whole thing will run ya’ $350, and you should email [email protected] to let ’em know you’re coming by Thursday, June 12th. The workshop happens at the Harold Golen Gallery (2921 NW Sixth Ave., Miami) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.terriblygirly.com.
