While cities expand, asphalt spreads, threatening to blanket the entire surface of the globe and leading us to this great conundrum: Why do we pursue order and power over nature while simultaneously longing for chaos? As more terrain is conquered in the name of progress, we romanticize those untamed regions where the world is still wild, where thousands of varieties of animals and plant life remain undiscovered, and where inimitable colors exist. We lust for the jungle.

In Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy our desires are satiated. Created by local Cirque superstar Neil Goldberg, this acrobatic spectacle highlights what you love most about Eastern European circus productions (mind-bending costumes, perfectly balanced aerialists, and an eclectic soundtrack) and sets them in the eerily beautiful backdrop of a magical jungle (Imagine Where the Wild Things Are, with contortionists). You’ll be hypnotized by the 25 performers and musicians who dance, fly, and slither across the stage – and slipping in and out of the production’s 150 total costumes. Catch it all at the Kravis Center (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach) through January 13th. Wednesday’s performances are at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and tickets range $24 to $51.
