Who says Floridians don’t understand history and preservation? Sure, we might not have cobblestone streets and ivy-lined mansions that date back hundreds of years like those snobby folks up north. But what we do have, we cherish.

Take for example the West Palm Beach Historical Walking Tours. These guided foot tours lead you through landmarks like Palm Beach’s first “skyscraper” and give you insights on architecture styles utilized in the early 1900’s. The best part? You get to stroll through the beautifully decorated downtown section of Palm Beach while you absorb information – without mittens. Take that, New York.

Strolls go from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. This event is free but space is limited. Call 561-832-4164, ext. 0 for reservations. Visit www.hisoricalsocietybpb.com for more information. Donations are welcome and benefit the Historical Society of Palm Beach County.
Fridays, 4 & 5 p.m., 2008
