Good pop music is addictive. So when the young group (
seriously young folks, who might be playin at the club but they sure aint drinkin there)
Manchester Orchestra decided to dedicate its collective post-high school years to perpetual touring (250 shows in 2007 alone), it didnt have to resort to contamination of the water supplies. Nope. The five-pieces so-catchy-you-cant-help-but-dance anthems have threaded themselves into an international network of rabid fans. Slipping between disco-based dance beats and root-rock guitar shredding, the sounds created by Manchester Orchestra are as pensively grandiose as the bands name suggests.
Its music to blast when youre playing hooky on a rainy day, tumbling rapidly into love, or just as quickly falling out of it, and wondering where everything went that was so beautiful, and so brief.
Catch a taste of whats going around when Manchester Orchestra plays a cheap-o show Sunday night ($5) at Respectable Street (518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach) with All Get Out. Its an early one; show starts at 7 p.m. Visit www.slammie.com.
