In a world where music hides out between our iPods and the folds of our ears, a time is reached when we must dislodge those headphones and give a good listen to the percussion of our daily lives. And that time is on Wednesday at the Kravis Center (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach), because that’s where the best percussion-heavy street performance ever turned Off-Broadway, STOMP, is kickin’ it. This audio/visual feast is part newfangled and part knock ´em dead -- broomsticks, bananas, and garbage cans are transformed into unsuspecting instruments with their practiced musicians thumping perfectly in tune, if not, in step. Organic clatter and rhythmic precision act together creating utter pandemonium. The result is a sound that jumps into your pulse and plunges headfirst down your spine until your feet are stomping to strange new steps, and life knocks back on the other side. Performances start at 8 p.m. and run through October 7. Tickets range $20 to $50. For more information, visit www.kraviscenter.org.
