Complain all you want about Florida’s hurricanes and oppressive humidity. In January, while most of the nation is freezing its kabushkas off, we’ve got perfect outdoor festival weather. And guess what? We’ve got the perfect festival to go along with it. Boca Fest is among Boca Raton’s most popular seasonal happenings. In its 19th year, the fest brings artists from nearly all 50 states to a neighborhood better known for snooty cafés and exclusive golf courses. But this isn’t a place to buy overpriced décor for your McMansion. The artists selling their wares will be on hand for the entire weekend, giving art lovers the opportunity to discuss their finds with the creative types who envisioned them. Local artists, many of whom are about as far removed from the Boca lifestyle as Dick Cheney is from human civilization, will be around as well. The 19th Annual Boca Fest takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free (although the artwork can get kind of pricey). Given Boca Fest’s location at the Shops at Boca Center (5250 Town Center Cir. , Boca Raton), known for its gourmet restaurants, there’s certain to be lots of good eatin’ too. Call 954-472-3755.
