Luckily, we as Americans dont have to drink that load of crap (either load, mind you), and thats why this country is so grand, ΄innit? The ability to choose, freely, to forgo errant commercialism, and embrace the truly unique say, a place like Big Bear Brewing Company (1800 University Drive, Coral Springs). In case you havent heard, this is a brewpub that for 10 years now has been hand-producing the freshest, strongest, tastiest beer you can get in Broward. Thats no small feat for an independent brewery stuck in corporate suburbia. A celebration is in order! And heres whats going down: Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. till 10:30 p.m., Big Bear will be celebrating its Tenth Anniversary German-style. Chef Peter Riechelt a guest chef BBBC brings in to facilitate its yearly Oktoberfest and St. Patricks Day parties will be cooking up traditional German food, like his famous sauerbraten and sausages, knockwursts, bratwursts, red stewed cabbage, and corned beef. Then brew master Matt Cox will be crafting a batch of his Bourbon Double Barrel IPA. And this stuff, my friends, is no frickin joke. Were talking a pint of beer with such a pungent jolt of deliciously heady hops that youre likely to swear off anything from a bottle after just one sip. Best of all, its happy hour all day which means 2-4-1 well drinks and $3 pints. Call 954-341-5545, or visit www.bigbearbrewingco.com.
