Americans like pets. And when Americans like something, they really like to get together and like it in large gatherings. Welcome to the Happy Paws Pet Expo, on Saturday and Sunday, where you can indulge your every pet-related whim, be it furry, feathered, scaled, or otherwise. Traditional dog lovers will drool over American I-dogs, the canine equivalent of America Idol. Those thirsting for more exotic excitement will enjoy Bwana Jim’s Wildlife Show. And parrot people will flock (yeah, we said it) to Larry’s Amazing Bird Show. And if you are a lonely lover of animals who yearns for a nonhuman companion, you won’t be feel left out at the Pet Expo. Adorable adoptables will be looking their best, hoping to catch your eye — especially after the groomers at the Ultimate Doggy Do-Over get through with them. And of course, there will be plenty of that greatest and most liked of American past-times: shopping. The pet expo will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium, 800 NE Eighth St. in Fort Lauderdale. General admission is $12, $10 for seniors, and free for children under 6 and active military personnel with ID. Call 561-300-3878, and visit happypawspetexpo.com for a $2-off coupon.
Sat., Nov. 13, 10 a.m.; Sun., Nov. 14, 10 a.m., 2010
