According to modern tradition — or perhaps it’s just a cliché? — persons of the Jewish persuasion usually hit up movie theaters and Chinese food restaurants on Christmas Day. Super fun. But if you happen to be young, single, and Jewish, maybe standing in the world’s longest Chinese food buffet line is not the way you’d like to spend any holiday — Christian, pagan, or otherwise. Besides, clichés are perilously close to stereotypes and that’s just not how we roll at New Times. So, while your poor Christian brethren are wrapping a dozen last-minute gifts, being forced to sing carols with mom, and trying to sleep on Gramma’s sofa bed, you can be partying, dancing, and drinking at the Mazel Tov Ball at Gryphon Nightclub from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. And who knows, maybe you’ll meet a nice single Jewish doctor. (Sorry, we couldn’t resist that one.) Le chaim! Admission to the Mazel Tov Ball is $20 at the door or $15 online. Call 954-845-9537, or visit mazeltovball.com. Gryphon Nightclub is located in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino at 5711 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Parking is free.
