You may have heard of Amanda Linton, creator of such indie-marketplace masterpieces as Stitch Rock, Art Rock, and Retro Indie Market. Linton has graced the cover of New Times to accompany our chefs-with-tattoos feature — and as far as we know, being on the cover of New Times has never made anyone famous. She definitely did all that hard work herself: To the crafts/arts community — especially in West Palm Beach — Linton is in the spotlight. If you’re not familiar — and you should be — besides curating the best crafts events of the year and being an artist herself, she runs her own cupcakery, House of Sweets. And now, she’s teamed up with Michelle Parparian of Family Vintage, creating their latest contribution to South Florida: the Downtown Open Market.

This market, which will run one Sunday of every month, is designed to travel from city to city, offering each unique place the opportunity to showcase their local talent. Linton and Parparian have put out a call to all the area’s artists and crafters, independent designers, vintage and antiques dealers, etc. Each market will host a bunch of vendors — and with more than 50 merchants comes a cornucopia of baked goods, vintage couture clothing and accessories, handmade indie crafts, natural bath stuff, stuff for your pets, handmade and vintage jewelry, flea market finds, and art. The first Downtown Open Market will be at Royal Palm Place Monument Piazza (308 S. Federal Highway, Boca Raton). Boca, let’s see what you got.
