With our first official cold front under our belts, the South Florida holiday season is truly under way. Unfortunately, those belts have also been tightened quite a bit due to our frosty economy. So this year perhaps more than any in recent history, it is important to fill the season with festive experiences to maintain a proper level of cheer. Get outside and enjoy the weather the snowbirds flock for, listen to Christmas carolers, meet Santa Claus, and catch an outdoor movie during an Evening at the Plaza from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, compliments of Undergrounds Coffeehaus's new home, Plaza 3000 (3000 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). The independent coffeehouse has been a longtime fixture on the Fort Lauderdale scene. Now it joins its new neighbors, including Hi-Life Cafe, Hibiscus Cafe, and Earth Elements, in laying out the holiday welcome mat. Enjoy complimentary refreshments like wine, water, and hot coffee or head inside to purchase something more. Although Plaza 3000 normally provides plenty of free parking, there will be none available during the event, so park at Congregational Church just east of the plaza. The event is free, and all of the businesses will be open and operating as usual. Visit undergroundscoffeehouse.com, or call 954-630-1900.
