If you build it, they will come. "It," in this case, is a children's hospital named after a baseball great; "they" are a bunch of retired ballplayers who will play one another in a one-off game at Fort Lauderdale Stadium (1301 NW 55th St., Fort Lauderdale) at 1 p.m. You've got former stars from the Mets, the Giants, the Senators, the Cardinals, the Orioles -- all kindsa teams, and you can see 'em for real cheap. Tickets cost $3 and $5, depending on your seats, and all proceeds go to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. It's not a league game, there's nothing riding on one or another team's victory, but that doesn't mean the stakes aren't high. Visit legendsgame.net for more info or jdchfoundation.org to learn more about the hospital.
