The Miami Heat needs a little motivation right now. They’ve been a giant pile of ass when they’ve played on the road lately. Their point guards have been abysmal, and the Big Three are getting no help from the bench. With only nine games to go before the playoffs kick off, now is not the time to be suffering through scoring slumps and dry spells. So it helps to play at the friendly confines of American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami), where they’ve been unstoppable and have put up one of the best home records in the NBA. It also helps to play a team like the Charlotte Bobcats. With just seven wins all season, the Michael Jordan-owned Bobcats are by far the worst team in all the land. Their leading scorer averages just 15 points per game, and they’ve been able to muster only three wins on the road all season. Some might argue that Jordan himself, at 49, can suit up and lead this team in scoring. Until then, however, Charlotte remains at the bottom of the NBA barrel, 30 games behind Miami in the Southeast Division standings, and a virtual punching bag for slumping teams. Maybe beating Jordan’s team is just what the Heat needs to go into the postseason feeling warm and fuzzy about their chances at another title run. Hey, they can use all the help they can get.
