Popular philosophy says that you can't bring back yesterday, but restaurateur Peter Beck isn't listening. After changing the name and style of his formal eatery Yesterday's (3001 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-561-4400) to the more casual Moonraker on the Water, he experienced backlash. So when the concept didn't take off as he'd planned, Beck looked to the past rather than the future and changed the name back to Yesterday's. We can only hope the quality of the fare -- prime rib, macadamia-crusted snapper, double pork chop with ginger-apple sauce -- has returned as well. In the end his experiment is a good lesson for other area restaurateurs: If it ain't broke, don't revamp it.
