Generally, when one thinks of German clubs, what comes to mind is Oktoberfest, a holiday much beloved by Germans and drinkers around the world. Well, Oktoberfest may have passed, but the American German Club of Lake Worth is putting its clubhouse to good use this holiday season (and, well, every other year, for that matter). The club is holding its annual Christmas party this Saturday. And it's completely decked out for the holidays. For $30, the party will feature a three-course meal -- including prime rib -- live music, a show, and dancing. Plus, alcoholic drinks are dirt-cheap: $3.50 for a beer. As part of the evening's events, patrons of the club will be singing Christmas songs in English, German, and French. As opposed to Oktoberfest, this is a more family-friendly, warm-fuzzy Christmas dinner, so don't come expecting to wear a beer-stein hat and swing from the rafters in your lederhosen. Dress like you're going to church, temple, or a nice dinner with your family.
The American German Club is located at 5111 Lantana Road in Lake Worth. The doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is served at 6. Admission is $30 for adults (nonmember), $6 for children 12 and under. For reservations, call 561-294-2429 or visit americangermanclub.org.
