The Movie Star of Sound

Da-dum... Da-dum... Da-dum-da-dum-da-dum. Have there ever been two musical notes more evocative than those used to mark the approach of Jaws' bloodthirsty antagonist? American composer John Williams is responsible for that iconic riff, as well as the instantly recognizable scores of cinematic classics like Star Wars, Schindler's List, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and many others. "The Maestro of the Movies: The Music of John Williams & More," presented by Bob Lappin and the Palm Beach Pops, pays tribute to Williams' best work. The show will be performed Monday and Wednesday in the Carole & Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at Florida Atlantic University (777 Glades Road, Boca Raton). It plays Tuesday in the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State (11051 Campus Drive, Palm Beach Gardens) and Thursday, February 7, and Friday, February 8, at Kravis Center for the Performing Arts (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach). All performances begin at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $29 to $89. Call 561-832-7677, or visit
