Celebrating gay pride can be a laughing matter; standup comedian Jason Stuart has made a career of it, matter of fact. Since 1993, this openly gay comic (known also for guest roles on television shows such as Will and Grace, George Lopez, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) has been wowing audiences with his brash material dealing with his experiences as a single Jewish homosexual male living in Hollywood, California. Pride South Florida, the nonprofit organization that is bringing together the 36th-annual PrideFest, chose wisely by having this rib-tickler headline its inaugural Pride Comedy Night on Friday. This evening of laughs serves as the kickoff event for the weekendlong celebration of the LGBT community. Accompanying Stuart this night is Jessica Kirson. A veteran of Comedy Central's South Beach Festival and featured on various television shows, including, NBC's Last Call With Carson Daly and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Kirson is an accomplished entertainer in her own right. This night of giggles and guffaws begins at 8 p.m. Friday at the Parker Playhouse, located at 707 NE Eighth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $31.50. Call 954-462-0222, or visit browardcenter.org.
