The Girls Club of Fort Lauderdale is hosting a continuing event called Artists in Action and will feature successful artist Felice Grodin. There are three elements to Artists in Action that make it a great event for artistically inclined people. If you know the art world, then you know it can cost an arm, leg, and various other body parts to collect art pieces. What the Girls Club does is produce limited-edition multiples of the artist's work and sell them at an affordable price, giving those with a strict budget the chance to start or grow their own collection. First, there's the free Artist Talk, which will take place on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., when guests will hear Grodin talk about her career in the arts. Then, on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m., for $30 participants will have the opportunity to attend a limited-seating art workshop led by the visiting artist. Grodin will lead participants in the process of mapping a body sequence, focusing on new spatial effects. Participants will record and print photographs of themselves or another person as a moving sequence to create a spatial effect. The Girls Club is located at 117 NE Second St. in Fort Lauderdale.
