Unless you are a member of the Taliban living in a cave or some kind of hermit who never leaves the house, you must have heard of D.L. Hughley and his hugely spectacular comedic events. The man is a regal comedian, after all, considering he was a part of the hugely successful “Kings of Comedy” tour. Along with Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey, and Cedric the Entertainer, the 1999 tour earned more than $40 million and became one of the highest-selling DVDs in 2001. Many credit the “Kings of Comedy” tour with catapulting Hughley into comedic superstardom. Nowadays, you can’t turn on the TV without seeing his guffaw-inspiring mug. Besides starring in the show The Hughleys, he has hosted HBO’s Def Comedy Jam and has had roles on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and on NBC’s Scrubs as Turk’s brother. The Fort Lauderdale Improv is lucky to be hosting a comedian as on top of his game as Hughley is. Don’t miss your chance to catch one of comedy’s brightest stars this weekend, as Hughley will be doing two shows Friday, at 8 and 10:30 p.m., at the Fort Lauderdale Improv, located at 5700 Seminole Way in Hollywood. Call 954-981-5653, or visit ftl.improv.com.
