It’s bus-loop time again in Fort Lauderdale. There isn’t much to say about the bus loop that hasn’t already been said. For those who don’t already know, first, welcome to the world — we hope your coma was restful. Second, a few times a year, downtown Fort Lauderdale is taken over by a phalanx of small buses. These buses will carry your increasingly inebriated selves from one prearranged bar or club to the next. Your bus-loop armband entitles you to one drink at each location. You can stay as long as you want at each stop, then wander outside to catch one of the several buses continuously making the evening’s loop — or just wander to the next bar under your own steam if it’s not too far away.
The loop will include ten participating locations: American Social, Vibe, YOLO, Copacabana, Lucky’s Tavern, America’s Backyard, Tarpon Bend, Café Del Mar, Quarterdeck, and the Office Pub. This all goes on from 5:30 p.m. to midnight — though the latest you can check in is 9 p.m. Check-in will be at YOLO Plaza (333 E. Las Olas Blvd.) or the Office Pub (201 SW Second St.) Admission is $30 – though for future reference, if you pay a week in advance online, it’s $20. Your “donation” will support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Covenant House Florida, Riverwalk Trust, Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation, Jack and Jill Children’s Center, and the Broward County Gator Club Scholarship Fund. The bus loop returns to Fort Lauderdale August 24 and November 27. Call 954-574-6000, or visit busloop.org.
