Puppy Style

An unknown holiday to many, the Sick Puppies Comedy Cast is performing a special version of its monthly comedy show to celebrate National Dunce Day. Although the name of the holiday sounds offensive, National Dunce Day is celebrated to remember Blessed John Duns Scotus, who died on November 8, 1308. Being accused of sophistry later in life, Scotus was the first person to acquire the name "dunce," which led to the creation of the Dunce cap -- a common punishment for schoolchildren in the past. Along with celebrating the late John Duns Scotus, this show, consisting of 90 minutes of improvised scenes, is upholding the club's tradition of offering a Humane Seat at every show. Through a donation of $100 to the Tri County Humane Society, a patron will receive two tickets to the show and the choice of seats anywhere in the house. Laugh your heart out for a good cause and an underrated holiday on Friday at the Showtime Performing Arts Theatre, located at 503 SE Mizner Blvd. in Boca Raton. Tickets cost $15 to $100 and can be purchased at sickpuppiescomedy.wordpress.com. Seating is offered on a first-come, first-served basis; doors will open 30 minutes before the performance. Advance purchase is required, and all tickets will be available for pickup at will call. To purchase tickets by phone, call 954-667-7735.
