Your Favorite Christmas Elf

Putting an adulterated spin on what it means to be a Macy's elf during Christmas, David Sedaris' character in The Santaland Diaries is sure to skew your perception of Christmas. Crumpet the Elf, portrayed in a one-man sendup, shows us the ugly side of Christmas spirit and the pitfalls of working at Santaland. For the South Florida run, Las Vegas-based actor and playwright Jamie Morris will express the sentiments of Crumpet. Not sure what to expect? Widely recognized for his work as a comedian, author, and radio contributor, Sedaris is known for exemplifying his personal life through his comedy in a self-deprecating manner. In addition, Morris is a well-known name within the local theater community, having appeared in a number of plays in South Florida, notably The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode, Mommie Queerest, and The Silence of the Clams. The Santaland Diaries will be featured at Empire Stage from December 5 to 22, on Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m. Empire Stage is located at 1140 N. Flagler St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets can be purchased at or by calling Smarttix at 212-868-4444. For information on cash reservations and group rates, call 954-678-1496.
