Artist Zachary Fabri is one of those local success stories we know. Born, raised, and educated in South Florida (he's a Miami native with a BFA from the New World School of the Arts), he moved to New York City to seek greener pastures. It's a gamble many local artists and musicians ruminate about but not many have the nerve to take. Fabri, however, did, and since moving to the Big Apple, his multidisciplinary, multimedia work -- dealing with oppression and social and political systems -- has raised many eyebrows. So far, Fabri's work has been exhibited or performed at galleries and festivals not just in New York but also in Berlin and Reykjavik, Iceland, to name a couple of sites. Fabri's work has certainly gone global, and this weekend, he'll bring his skill back home to give a workshop at the NSU Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. The lauded artist will discuss the body and how it can be used as a tool for creativity and expression. This artistic human body discourse takes place Saturday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the NSU Museum of Art, located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd. Tickets cost $20 for nonmembers, $10 for members, and $5 for NSU students. Museum admission is included. Call 954-262-0227, or visit moafl.org.
