A Show of Many Firsts

Palm Beach County's premier improv club, Sick Puppies Comedy, is taking a special approach to its monthly performance by breaking all of the rules. When it comes to comedy, what rules are there to break? Well, for the first time ever in the history of live theater, Sick Puppies Comedy asked its audience to name its Friday show. Conjured through an improv exercise that generates words and ideas, the audience settled on "Juicing the Commander." While it might seem strange, this is nothing out of the ordinary for the Puppies, as every show is made up on the spot. As lovers of spontaneity, the Puppies decided to let the audience have the driver's seat for a change by letting them choose the title. But don't be surprised if that title is never addressed during the show, as seven to nine players will improvise a series of scenes based on current audience input. That is simply the best part; this is a once-in-a-lifetime show in which the characters, the plot, the scenes, and the moments vanish as quickly as they appear. Join the Puppies for a pivotal night in comedy on Friday at the Showtime Performing Arts Theatre, located at 503 SE Mizner Blvd. in Boca Raton. Show starts at 9:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit sickpuppiescomedy.com or showtimeboca.com. Tickets cost $20 per person, $30 per couple, and $100 for a humane seat. Consisting of two tickets, the $100 is donated to the Tri-County Humane Society.
