If you want to extend Father's Day a bit, why not treat the father figure in your life to a food and beer dinner based on the oldest pairing known to beer, nuts? The Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park is hosting a beer-and-nuts-inspired culinary exploration with the guys from Flour Power Food Truck. The '60s-inspired food slingers are known for their all-natural baked goods, but on Monday, they'll be upping the ante with a smattering of nut-centric dishes to pair with some of Funky Buddha's nuttiest beers. The event starts at 7 p.m. and is scheduled to last about three hours. Currently on the docket from Flour Power are Pistachio Chicken Over Coconut Rice, Almond Butter & Jam Stand Gourmet Jam Bite-Size Sandwich, and Mini Bourbon-Infused Pecan Pie, among others. Buddha is planning on pairing these with decadently brewed offerings like Don't Tell Reese Peanut Butter Cup Brown Ale and Last Snow, its white chocolate and coconut beer. For $25, you'd be nuts not to attend. I think we're done with the acorny jokes. Visit Eventbrite to pick up a ticket. Funky Buddha Brewery is located at 1201 NE 38th St. in Oakland Park. Call 954-440-0046.
