The Classic Albums Live series is the brainchild of Canadian musician Craig Martin and touts masterful, note-for-note re-creations of classic rock's most brilliant gems. From the Beatles' Abbey Road to the Eagles' Hotel California and Led Zeppelin's Led Zeppelin II, Martin's ensemble knows no bounds. On Thursday, Martin brings his cast of exceptionally talented musicians to Fort Lauderdale for cut-for-cut, exact replicas of Elton John's Greatest Hits album. Heavy on musical spot-on-ness but light on costumes and mimicry, this performance gives fans a chance to hear faithfully performed numbers of Elton John's best work without having to endure glammy impersonators. No wigs, just rock 'n' roll. We all know mimicking the Rocket Man's stage persona would be an impossible feat anyway. What attendees will get is magnificent musicians concentrating solely on reproducing hits like "Your Song," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "and "Candle in the Wind" the way they sounded on Elton's John's original Greatest Hits album. Oh yeah, and the band plays the entire album through and through. This performance takes place at 8 p.m. at the Parker Playhouse, located on 707 NE Eighth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $25 to $49 and $69 for VIP. Call 954-462-0222, or visit parkerplayhouse.com.
