For the 2013/14 season, the Girls' Club secured the curatorial services of artist/sibling duo the TM Sisters. The mission was to look into the vast array of art ephemera in the collection and engage it in a new manner. The sisters, Monica and Tasha, themselves visual artists in multiple genres, took a personal turn into their charge and selected a large number of pieces that "spoke to the mysterious attraction" they felt for them. The collection of contemporary art by women, assembled by Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz, is home to many pieces by contemporaries of the sisters, but there is no nepotism here, and "I Think It's in My Head" was born. As it has done in the past, the club has put together an 86-page catalog of the exhibit, and it features an introduction from creative director Michelle Weinberg, an essay on feminism, science fiction from artist Claire Evans, fiction from Vanessa Garcia, and an interview with the sisters. This Hello Gusto-designed catalog is limited to a pressing of 200 copies and is made locally. The exhibit closes on September 26, but on Friday, you can join some of the artists for a launch party of the catalog at 7 p.m. at the Girls' Club, 117 NE Second St., Fort Lauderdale.
