What was a one-time performance last year stretches into three this time around as Delray Beach’s Arts Garage brings back its popular live radio performance of the cinematic holiday classic It’s a Wonderful Life. Taking the Frank Capra-produced and -directed movie and giving it a nostalgic twist, the ensemble transforms the 1946 American original into a lively ’40s-style radio production, only set for the stage. A nod to the Golden Age of radio, a handful of actors brings to life dozens of characters, us-ing nondigital sound effects and even taking time for scripted commercial breaks. This penetrating tale of a down-on-his-luck busi-nessman, George Bailey (played famously by James Stewart on the Silver Screen), is yet another production done by Arts Garage Radio Theater. Since last August, producers have staged similar classic films, such as A Star Is Born, Casablanca, and Sunset Boulevard into captivating plays, with an old-time-radio feel. Witness the splendor of this holiday staple in its second performance, this Thursday. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Arts Garage, located at 180 NE First St. in Delray Beach.
