December isn’t all about murdered pine trees, a senior citizen with a history of breaking and enterings, and hoofed animals that transmit Lyme disease. There’s another miracle besides a virgin birth to celebrate: an oil lamp that should have burned for only one night and instead lasted for eight. This year, ring in the holidays Hanukkah-style the 2014 Chanukah Fair on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, presented by the Downtown Jewish Center Chabad. On Sunday, the event kicks off at noon, when eventgoers can enjoy plenty of food, including barbecue, rides, games, arts and crafts, and music. Don’t forget to bring your ice skates: The park will be set up with Florida’s largest outdoor ice skating rink. At 4 p.m., the Hebrew School Chanukah Choir will perform at the honorary Menorah lighting. The Chanuka Fair on Las Olas takes place on the Riverside Hotel lawn, at SE Eighth Street and Las Olas Boulevard, on Sunday. Entry is free from noon to 4 p.m. To purchase discounted ride tickets in advance or for more information, visit downtownjewish.com or call 954-667-8000.
