The Tin Fish will debut in the former Luigi's space, at 118 S. Clematis Street, just in time for Sunfest in May. Owner Andy Noonan, said he liked the concept of The Tin Fish in Port St. Lucie so much that he wanted to open a branch of his own.
The original plan was to open in Fort Lauderdale. Yet in a meeting with the restaurant founder Joseph Melluso earlier this year, he had the opportunity look at three properties and fell in love with the West Palm location.
The fish-centric menu is inspired by dishes Melluso developed while working for chef Libby Hillman and Tuscan chef Giuliano Bugialli.
The first Tin Fish opened in 2000, so named for a restaurant property
Melluso was working on in San Diego in 1998. In researching the
property, Melluso learned it was owned by a hardware merchant in 1856 who was
also a tinsmith and a gadget fixer. The owner also sold fish in front of the
property. Tin Fish stuck with him, the name for restaurants in
California, Minnesota, Washington, Kentucky, and Florida.
