National Cheesecake Day, Susser Does Brooklyn, Wine Diner at Mancini's

• July 30 is National Cheesecake Day; can you guess which restaurant is

celebrating? (Hint: The name starts with "Cheesecake" and ends in

"Factory.") Anyway, on July 30 that place will be offering "any slice, half price,"

a promotion that's fairly self-explanatory. Comers can try the chain's

new Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake, and a quarter from the

sale of each piece will be donated to Feeding America. (Hopefully they're not just feeding America cheesecake -- that tub needs to go on a diet.)

• First Larry King, now Allen Susser. The award-winning chef will join an advisory board for Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., that Delray Beach bagel joint where the water is Brooklynized™ via a complex process of constant ground contamination, rats the size of alligators, and industrial runoff. Just kidding. It's all scientific and stuff. I think.

• Ever want to cook like a Brazilian? From Texas? Learn how August

10 through 12, when the culinary director for churrascaria chain Texas

de Brazil stops in to the Miami Beach location for a little

instruction. Evandro Caregnato will teach the basics of churrasco

grilling, sides and sauces, and cocktails and desserts starting at 6:30

p.m. each evening. Oh, and you get to eat the results. Space is limited

to 18 guests, and the class is $60 per person, all inclusive. Reserve

at 305-695-7702.

• Mancini's on Las Olas is getting all wine

dinner up in herre. On July 28, the Italian restaurant is doing a

five-course pairing menu starting at 7 p.m. featuring wines from

Ruffino. The meal will include dishes like clams and mussels in white

wine sauce served with pinot grigio, tomato and spinach gnocchi with

meat ragu, pan-seared yellowfin tuna with Tuscan "Modus," and grilled

wild boar with chianti. The cost is $75 per person plus tax and tip.
