Things To Do

Kentucky Derby Party at Tap 42: Hats, Horses, and Bourbon

If you can't make it to Churchill Downs on May 5 for the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby, take your giant-hat-wearing self over to Tap 42 for the biggest Derby celebration outside of Kentucky.

Starting at 2 p.m., enjoy Tap 42's inaugural Derby Day with $5 Wild Turkey mint juleps.

From 4 until the 6:30 p.m. race, celebrate the Derby with happy-hour pricing (50 percent off drinks at the bar) and prize giveaways throughout the day.

The derby is known for its hat-wearing ladies, so break out your finest

frockery for a chance to win some great prizes, including an iPad 2 and

Wild Turkey bottles autographed by the bourbon's master distiller, Jimmy Russell.

Not a hat wearer? Dress as a jockey or, better yet, come in that horse costume that's just sitting in your attic (you always wanted to be a horse's ass, didn't you?). Derby attire will be judged by a panel of esteemed judges, including

Clean Plate Charlie's own Melissa McCart and Tap's Ted Inserra.

Don't forget to place

your bet on the race at Tap 42's own betting "window." Then settle down

and watch the most exciting two minutes in sports from Tap 42's

televisions. If your horse wins, you could win some great prizes.

Either way, we're betting you have a great time!
