Some things are just made for one another. Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Cat videos and procrastinating on a project that's due at the end of the day. Bacon and... well, everything. (At least, according to the internet.)

Another thing that pairs nicely? South Florida foodies and the fifth-annual New Times Pairings on Thursday, September 13, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale. Early-bird ticket pricing for the popular event ends Friday, so you'd better hop to it if you'd like a chance to savor the matches made in culinary heaven at a discounted price.

Through Friday, August 3, tickets to Pairings cost $40 for general admission and $80 for VIP. After Friday, the price goes to $50 and $90, respectively, for presale tickets. The cost is $60/$100 at the door, assuming any tickets will remain at that point. Click here to order tickets online.

The final list of participating restaurants and other vendors is still in the works, but so far, a strong assortment of popular places has signed on, including Tap 42, El Jefe Luchador, 3030 Ocean, Rok:Brgr, Casa D'Angelo, Rebel House, and China Grill. Wine Watch will once again be on hand to match each dish with a wine that perfectly complements the eats, and craft beer and cocktail samplings will be available.

The event is 7 to 10 p.m., but VIP ticket holders get in at 6 p.m. for early sampling. They also gain access to a VIP lounge and cocktail bar and special wines and liquors not available in the general-admission area. A portion of proceeds benefits Jack & Jill Children's Center. Pairings is a 21-year-and-older event and includes live music and entertainment.
